Tami
Tami
(Robinson) Soper was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has been a
resident of District 21 for most of her life. She lives in the
house her parents had built nearly 30 years ago.
Commitment
to public service has always been a family value in her
home. Her father is a US Air Force Veteran and
a retired postal worker. Her mother retired after 34 years
of teaching in Lincoln public schools.
A
Lincoln High graduate, Tami attended elementary and middle
school in District 21. She has an Associate Degree
from Southeast Community College, and has attended the
University of Nebraska and Doane College in Lincoln.
Tami
began to volunteer for civic and community service with
her parents when she was in high school. As an adult,
she has continued to be an active volunteer and has been
appointed to several Lincoln/Lancaster County advisory
boards.
Tami
also has an Honorable Discharge for six (6) years of service
in the Nebraska Air National Guard. Her civilian
career has been in public service. She has been employed
with both public and private health and human services
organizations, including the Nebraska Department of Health
and Region V Systems where she facilitated public health
prevention efforts across 16 counties in southeast Nebraska.
In
2005, Tami accepted a position with the Nebraska Unicameral
Legislature. As a Legislative Aide, she has gained
extensive experience addressing constituent concerns, researching
and drafting legislation, and working with others to create
legislative solutions.
Tami
was married to her husband, Shawn Soper, in 2002. She has one daughter and three step-children. Tami and her family attend Lincoln Family Church in the Highlands where they are active members. In
her leisure time, she enjoys reading, attempting projects
she has seen on HGTV, and spending time with her family.
